Arsenal are busy at work in Germany ahead of their pre-season game against FC Nurnberg, and Mikel Arteta is having a bit of fun in training as well.

Before heading out to America, the Gunners have organised a mini-training camp in Herzogenaurach. Arteta’s men will take on Nurnberg at the 50,000-capacity Max-Morlock-Stadion tomorrow, and it will be a good test.

All eyes have been on our new boy Gabriel Jesus in training and rightly so. However, someone else has stolen the spotlight today, and it’s none other than our manager!

Mikel Arteta shows off his skills in Arsenal training

It has only been six years since Arteta hung up his boots as a professional footballer. His quality was never in doubt, it was just the constant injuries that forced him to make the decision he did.

However, on his day, we all know how good he was, and it looks like he still has got the skills in possession that he did when he was running the show from Arsenal’s midfield all those years ago.

Arsenal posted a video on their social media handles today that shows Arteta receiving the ball from Bernd Leno, turning effortlessly to take the game away from young Matt Smith, before moving the ball away from Salah Eddine and passing it forward.

The Spaniard can’t hold back his smile after his brilliant bit of skill. It’s safe to say, he enjoyed that one.

A look at Arsenal’s pre-season schedule

Arsenal officially kick off their pre-season tour in Germany against Nurnberg tomorrow.

Then, the Gunners will fly over to the United States and our first game there is against Everton at the M&T Bank Stadium.

Arsenal will then take part in the Florida Cup and face Orlando City and Chelsea, before flying back to London to take on Sevilla in the Emirates Cup.

That will be the end of Arsenal’s pre-season – unless Mikel Arteta decides to squeeze another game in before our season-opener against Crystal Palace next month.
