Arsenal youngster Max Dowman was at the centre of another impressive performance for the under-18s as they picked up another win in their league campaign.

The Young Gunners took on Norwich City in the under-18s Premier League as one of their final three games of the season.

Damari Daley opened the scoring for the Canaries, before Dan Casey pulled one back for Arsenal to draw them level.

Then came Max Dowman, who scored a brace from the penalty spot to give the Hale End stars another three points.

Adam Birchall praises Max Dowman physicality for Arsenal under-18s

With another win thanks to Dowman, there is plenty of talk surrounding whether the 15-year-old should get a call into the under-21s side.

Following the win for the Arsenal under-18s, the head coach, Adam Birchall, poured in praise for the impact of the midfielder.

He told the official Arsenal website: “He’s been outstanding and I’m really pleased with Max today.

“I think he showed a different side to him today. Well, not a different side, but he got a chance to develop the side of him when opposition players are trying to stop you through different ways. Maybe fouling, maybe things off the ball.

“He showed a real mentality to stick at it today and keep playing his game. Because it’s a difficult thing as a young player when other players are trying to use physicality or aggression against you to keep yourself focused and maintain your football thinking, and I thought he did that really well today. So, I was really pleased with him.”

It’s another promising display from the academy star, who is now showing some even more promising signs for the future.

Max Dowman showing signs he is ready for Arsenal step up

If there’s one area that is often a stark difference between the academy team and the senior side it is the physicality.

Playing in the youth side against other youngsters doesn’t always prepare stars to feature consistently against bigger and more powerful men.

Dowman has plenty of talent, but he appears to be showing signs that he is able to compete at the very least.

The 15-year-old has plenty of time and room for growth as a player, but the early signs suggest he is capable of making that step up.
