Ethan Nwaneri says there’s another player in Arsenal’s academy who’s a bit like him

Ethan Nwaneri is one of the best players to come out of the Arsenal academy in recent years.

The Gunners have done a tremendous job with their youth setup. Ever since Per Mertesacker took charge of Hale End, they have been producing one incredible talent after another.

Bukayo Saka is the biggest of them all, while the likes of Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-Skelly and now Max Dowman have followed in the former’s footsteps.

Now, another huge talent could be coming through the ranks, and it’s none other than Nwaneri’s younger brother, Emerson.

Ethan Nwaneri says his brother Emerson is just like him

Emerson Nwaneri is coming through the ranks at Arsenal’s academy, just like his brother Ethan did.

The younger Nwaneri is still only 15 years old, and he is being viewed as a fine talent behind the scenes at the club.

Emerson, who recently made his Arsenal U18s debut, is naturally a midfielder, but he can play as a right-back as well if required.

Everybody knows how much Mikel Arteta loves versatile players. That, combined with the fact that Emerson has already played for the U18s and U19s, must have caught the Arsenal manager’s eye.

Now, Nwaneri, the older one, has had his say on his brother, and he compared the 15-year-old to himself.

He told Arsenal.com: “He’s doing really well. He played for the under-18s and then the under-19s last week. I just told him that nothing’s guaranteed, to keep working hard, keep pushing, have the right mindset, and you can go as far as you want.

“We talk about our journey all the time, so it’s great to see him progressing too. He’s my little brother, you know, so I tell him everything that he needs. I’m proud of him and just want him to keep pushing.

“He’s very focused, very serious, he’s a bit like me – it’s going well.”

If there’s one thing you could change about the Arsenal academy, what would it be and why?

The Nwaneri brothers could achieve an incredible feat at Arsenal

Having Ethan around must be a blessing for Emerson because the former has experienced the highs and lows of playing senior football already.

We’re sure the two Nwaneris have thought about playing together one day. If they do, they will make their way into the Arsenal history books.

No pair of brothers has featured for the Gunners together in the same game since 1960. Danny and Denis Clapton were the last to do so in November of that year.

Ethan and Emerson should be aiming to become just the fourth brothers to play for Arsenal together, but they could face some competition.

The Quintero twins, Edwin and Holger, are set to join Arsenal in 2027, and they will have their eye on that record too.
