Arsenal are eyeing a move to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The Gunners need a backup to David Raya in goal. Edu Gaspar brought Neto in on a season-long loan deal last summer, but the veteran will return to Bournemouth now.
Joan Garcia was Arsenal’s top goalkeeper target in this window, but it looks like he is on his way to sign for Barcelona in the coming days.
Seeing that, Arsenal have turned to Kepa, who will be available for a bargain fee this summer.
What Ian Wright once said about Arsenal target Kepa Arrizabalaga
Kepa became the most expensive goalkeeper in the world after Chelsea signed him in the summer of 2018.
The Blues paid an eye-watering £71.6 million to get him, and it is safe to say that he hasn’t lived up to that price tag at Stamford Bridge.
Kepa spent the last two seasons on loan, first at Real Madrid and then at Bournemouth, where he replaced Neto after he moved to Arsenal.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Gunners have enquired about signing the Spanish goalkeeper, who will be available for just £5 million this summer.
But, what club legend Ian Wright said about Kepa in January 2023 should ring alarm bells at Arsenal before they make any move to sign him.
He said on the Wrighty’s House at the time: “I’m looking at Kepa and I’m sorry, man, but it’s not working out.
“The man makes too many mistakes!
“We’re looking at a Chelsea side where even if they’re playing well, I cannot, as a Chelsea fan, look at that goalkeeper and feel like he’s going to help us win a game. I can’t see it.”

Should Arsenal sign Kepa from Chelsea?
Arsenal have done a lot of business with Chelsea in recent years.
Willian was brought in first before Jorginho and Kai Havertz were signed, the latter for big money. Then, Raheem Sterling joined the Gunners on loan last season, and that was a disaster.
That makes you wonder why Arsenal are looking at another Chelsea player, but a £5 million deal for a quality backup is not bad at all.
However, in order to raise the level of the squad, it would be more ideal if Arsenal signed a goalkeeper who would push Raya to become even better next season.
The last thing Arsenal need is for their number one to get complacent.
