Arsenal have been linked with a transfer for Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto on transfer deadline day, so here’s a look at everything you need to know.
The Gunners have faced a tricky summer when balancing the goalkeeping department, with several different moving parts involved.
David Raya completed his permanent signing at the Emirates Stadium from Brentford, but that meant moves elsewhere.
Karl Hein signed a new contract but looked to secure first-team minutes in a loan switch to Spanish side Real Valladolid.
Young English shot-stopper Tommy Setford was signed from Ajax as a third-choice option in the squad for the coming campaign.
However, doubts persisted over the future of Aaron Ramsdale, who is now set to join Southampton in a deal worth up to £25million.
As a result, another backup is needed at Arsenal, with the likes of Joan Garcia and Sam Tickle linked as options.
The latest name rumoured with a switch is Neto, a goalkeeper from Bournemouth, on a potential loan deal.
So with that said, here’s a look at everything you need to know about the Arsenal target.

Who is Neto?
Norberto Murara Neto, also known more commonly as just Neto, is an experienced goalkeeper for Premier League side AFC Bournemouth.
Neto age and height
Neto was born on July 19, 1989, which makes him 35 years old as of writing, and towards the latter end of his career.
The goalkeeper is approximately 1.9 metres tall – or roughly six feet and five inches in height – which makes him an imposing figure between the posts.
Neto nationality
Born in Araxa, Brazil, Neto holds Brazilian citizenship and has even featured for the national team at youth and senior levels.
The experienced shot-stopper grew up in Brazil until he was 21 years old, at which point he moved to Europe to continue his footballing career.
Career path
Neto came through the ranks at Athletico Paranaense, making his breakthrough in 2009 as a promising young option.
The goalkeeper left two years later to join Fiorentina, where he spent four years and with whom he made the most appearances.
He went on to spend a short spell at Juventus, from 2015 to 2017, before he joined Valencia in another switch for first-team appearances.
Two years in the spotlight there saw him make the switch to Barcelona, where Neto largely played as a backup goalkeeper.
He then joined AFC Bournemouth in 2022, where he has been first-choice option.

Neto trophies
After spending some time at some of the biggest clubs in the world, Neto is no stranger to winning some trophies.
Here’s the silverware he has won:
- Serie A title (x2)
- Italian Cup (x2)
- Italian Super Cup (x1)
- Spanish Cup (x2)

Neto to Arsenal transfer
With plenty of change expected in the goalkeeper ranks late in the transfer window, Arsenal have lined up a few different options.
Joan Garcia has been the main target for the Gunners, having agreed personal terms, though they are yet to agree a fee with Espanyol.
As a result, Arsenal have a verbal agreement with Bournemouth over a loan deal for Neto for the season.
That deal may only go through if the Gunners are unable to sign another target though.
