Alan Shearer thinks one Arsenal player caused absolute ‘chaos’ vs Inter Milan

One Arsenal star won over Alan Shearer against Inter Milan, as the Gunners emerged from San Siro with a 3-1 victory.

It’s good news for Mikel Arteta, as Arsenal will not have to play in the play-offs, having automatically qualified for the Champions League round of 16.

The Gunners’ fate was confirmed before the action in Milan even kicked off, thanks to Manchester City’s shock defeat to Bodo/Glimt.

Qualification wasn’t enough for Arsenal, who went to San Siro and won, keeping their 100% win rate intact in a much-improved performance.

After Arsenal’s stagnant attacking display against Nottingham Forest, Arteta’s side bounced back, as one player significantly upped his level.

Alan Shearer loved Bukayo Saka’s performance against Inter Milan

It was a night to remember for Gabriel Jesus, who ended Arsenal’s wait to score an away goal against an Italian side in the Champions League.

The Brazilian will make the headlines for his match-winning brace, but it was Bukayo Saka who caught Alan Shearer’s eye.

Speaking on Amazon Prime Video’s coverage of the fixture [20/01/25 20:42], Shearer noted that he saw Saka ‘causing chaos’ for Inter Milan’s defence.

“Saka’s causing chaos down the right-hand side. He’s giving them a really tough time, doing a great job at the minute,” he said.

It wasn’t the only time that Shearer spoke highly of Saka’s performance, as later in the contest, he dubbed the Arsenal winger a forward’s dream.

“He’s a dream for a forward, he really is,” the Premier League icon said when reacting to a Saka cross.

“Such a tight situation with Dimarco one-v-one and somehow finds a quality cross with the right foot.”

Shearer was right, as Saka was Arsenal’s shining light going forward against Inter, but not everything was perfect.

Saka will leave San Siro feeling frustrated for one reason

Saka might’ve caused Arsenal target Federico Dimarco a lot of problems on the flank, but he was still missing a goal.

Scoring more goals will be on Saka’s mind, and clearly was, as when he was played through by Jesus with the chance to score, he took one too many touches and was closed down.

Fortunately, it wasn’t a night of blanks for the 24-year-old in front of goal, as late on, he assisted Viktor Gyokeres, the second goal he’s set up in the Champions League this season.

A goal, however, is still yearned for.

Having not scored for Arsenal since the first week of December, putting the ball in the net is on Saka’s mind, perhaps too much.
