Arsenal are eager to bring one of Inter Milan’s most important players to the Emirates in the summer.
The January transfer window has been a quiet time for Arsenal, which was expected after a high-spending summer.
Several transfer opportunities have presented themselves to Andrea Berta, but it’s understood that the Gunners will wait until the summer window to recruit.
Berta wants to sign a forward, which is really needed given Arsenal’s underperformance in attack, but it’s not only those in exclusively attacking positions that could help Mikel Arteta’s side.
Which left winger would you most like to see Andrea Berta prioritise in 2026?
Arsenal are interested in signing Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco
On Tuesday night, Arsenal head to San Siro to face Inter Milan, which is when they’ll come face to face with one of their targets.
In Italy, Tuttosport are reporting that the Gunners are showing ‘genuine interest’ in left-back and attacking mastermind Federico Dimarco.
Inter only have one answer to interest: they want to keep Dimarco and are eager to tie the 28-year-old to a new deal, with his current contract expiring in 2027.
Is left-back the position Arsenal need to recruit in the most?
Still, Tuttosport have listed interest in the Italian as something ‘worth keeping an eye on’, stating that Arsenal have ‘set their sights’ on signing the defender.
Inter have a response, as they’re set to initiate contract negotiations with Dimarco next month, which follows manager Cristian Chivu’s decision to list the left-sider as ‘unsellable’.
At present, Transfermarkt lists Dimarco as having a market value of €50m, which would only rise if Inter tied their man down to a new contract.
It remains to be seen if Berta can lure his countryman to North London, but it’ll be a challenge, given that Dimarco has been associated with Inter since he was a child.
Dimarco could make Arsenal so much better
Some fans will learn about the links and ask, why does Arteta want to sign another defender?
It’s valid, but also, it’s very clear that Dimarco is so much more than merely a left-back.
Agree or disagree, Dimarco would take Arsenal to the next level.
The Italian is one of Inter’s most reliable sources of attacking quality, already recording 11 goal contributions in 19 Serie A appearances in 2025/26.
To contextualise those numbers, that’s more than Bukayo Saka has in 20 Premier League appearances this season.
Arsenal need a spark in attack in all areas of the pitch, and so often, Arteta’s full-backs have been the ones to generate danger.
Dimarco would take the Gunners to the next level in that respect, making the transfer link all the more of a head-turner.
