Gabriel Jesus was on the scoresheet once again on New Year’s Day, as Arsenal recorded a 3-1 victory against Brentford.
After Bryan Mbeumo put Brentford ahead against the run of play at the Gtech Community Stadium, Arsenal were able to equalise swiftly as Gabriel Jesus reacted quickly to produce a poacher’s finish from close range.
This strike maintained the Brazilian striker’s resurgent form, as he has now netted six times in his last four outings for the North London club. Prior to this flurry goals, he had scored just once, across all competitions, since last January.
Mikel Arteta will be particularly delighted that Jesus has been able to rediscover his clinical edge now, as Arsenal are set to be without their most productive attacker, Bukayo Saka, for some time after he underwent surgery.

Gabriel Jesus wins trust of Arsenal fans vs Brentford
Arsenal fans on X are certainly excited by the former Manchester City man’s form.
One said: “All I want is Gabriel Jesus firing us to some titles to justify Arteta’s efforts.”
Another claimed: “Gabriel Jesus when he’s on form like this is an absolute joy to watch, Glad we are witnessing his revival now.”
One Arsenal fan stated: “He doesn’t seem to score more than Havertz but an Arsenal team with Gabriel Jesus up front is always more enjoyable to watch than one with Havertz up there.”
Another insisted: “I’m all for this Gabriel Jesus redemption, looks back to his best. Leading the line, interchanging to make us more fluid and allow others space to run into, stretching the defence running in behind more. If he can keep fit and stay consistent, he could be the difference.”
One added: “Gabriel Jesus when he’s on form like this is an absolute joy to watch.”
One chipped in with: “Gabriel Jesus. Continue with this and you might win me over.”
Jesus was also able to maintain his personal Premier League record against Brentford of having never lost a game in the competition that he has scored in. Goals from the 27-year-old are certainly a good omen for the Gunners.
Arsenal fans change stance on Jesus
Supporters of the North London club are now excited by Jesus and, seemingly, confident in his ability to deliver for Arteta’s side.
However, this has not been the case for much of the last twelve months. Jesus came under fire from Arsenal fans on numerous occasions, as it seemed that his goal drought would go on forever, and that his confidence in his finishing appeared to have permanently deserted him.
It was even argued that Arsenal needed to give up on Jesus and seek a buyer for the player at the next opportunity.
However, the forward has now done enough to prove that he deserves another chance to show that he can shine for the Gunners on a consistent basis.
