Arsenal star William Saliba has been shining at the World Cup for France.
The defender played a massive part in helping the Gunners win the Premier League title last season, and he is doing the same for Les Bleus at the World Cup.
On Saturday night, Saliba started for France against Paraguay, and he had a decent game.
🏆 Which Arsenal star will go the furthest at this summer’s World Cup?
Zubimendi and Spain? Saka and England? Saliba and France?
One moment in the fixture has amazed every football fan, especially those of Arsenal, who are all raving about him.
During a counter-attack, Miguel Almiron decided it would be a good idea to take Saliba on. However, the Arsenal centre-half outran him comfortably and regained possession.
Almiron, who put in all the energy he had, went down holding his hamstring.
Arsenal fans react to William Saliba’s defending against Miguel Almiron
Arsenal fans are in awe of William Saliba’s brilliant piece of defending to deny Almiron during France’s win over Paraguay.
Many immediately took to social media to sing his praises.
One tweeted: “There is no more calming sight in football than seeing the opposing forward on a breakaway and then realising it’s Saliba he’s in a race with. Wonderful defender.”

Another wrote: “Rolls-Royce. The best centre-back in the world.”
“All this with a bad back. Wilo is insane,” wrote another.
Another Arsenal fan said: “The most incredible thing about Saliba is he doesn’t even look fast, he doesn’t look like he is running fast, but nobody can pass him.”
“This is why Real Madrid are chasing him. Elite defender,” tweeted another.
What’s your message to John Terry after he said William Saliba is not world-class?
Arsenal have a big William Saliba concern
Saliba embarrassing Almiron is not that big of a surprise – he has done it to better players.
However, the fact that the Arsenal man made it look that easy while struggling with what is a significant back injury is simply incredible.
Saliba may need to undergo a minor surgery to fix his back problem this summer, and that is a massive concern for Arsenal.
The Gunners need to invest in another centre-half if their French superstar will be sidelined at the start of next season.
That is perhaps why Arsenal want to sign Ezri Konsa, but we’re not sure if he is good enough to replace the best centre-back in the world.
