Arsenal have suddenly been linked with a move to sign Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa.
The Gunners are expected to strengthen multiple areas of their pitch this summer, but central defensive reinforcements were not on anyone’s mind.
However, there is a chance that William Saliba may need to undergo a minor surgery, so Mikel Arteta is being smart with his recruitment.
Arsenal’s newest defensive target is Konsa, and they think they can get him.
Imagine you are Andrea Berta. Who is your top target for Arsenal in the summer transfer window?
Arsenal feel they can sign Ezri Konsa for a bargain fee
Ezri Konsa is one of Aston Villa’s most important players.
The Englishman has been excellent under Unai Emery over the last few years, and he is definitely capable of playing for bigger clubs.
Reports claimed recently that Aston Villa value Konsa at a whopping £60 million this summer.
That is a lot of money, but when you consider the fact that he is a full England international who has started every game at the World Cup, you could justify that figure.
Arsenal, however, think they can get him for a lot cheaper.
The Daily Mail have revealed that the Gunners feel they can sign Konsa for just around £35 million, which would be a huge bargain.
The defender is 28 already and has entered the final two years of his contract. Andrea Berta probably feels he can take advantage of that situation.
However, whether Villa would even consider letting him go for such a fee remains to be seen.

Arsenal could seriously weaken Unai Emery’s Aston Villa
If someone asked you to name Aston Villa’s two most influential players, you would definitely think about Konsa and Morgan Rogers.
The two English stars played a huge part in helping Emery’s side win the Europa League last season.
Arsenal have been linked with both Rogers and Konsa this summer, and if they end up signing them, they would seriously weaken Aston Villa.
Furthermore, Gooners will feel they have got their revenge on Emery after the Spaniard’s disappointing spell at the Emirates took them a few steps backwards.
However, it will not be easy to convince Villa to let both Konsa and Rogers leave for the same club in the same window.
