Raheem Sterling has had a nightmare loan spell at Arsenal, with the winger earning more minutes against Nottingham Forest.
The Gunners’ title hopes are all but over as a 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest saw more points dropped.
While Mikel Arteta’s side failed to win on the road, Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 13 points.
It was a fixture at the City Ground that epitomised Arsenal’s struggles this season, with the majority failing to impress in the must-win match-up.

Mikel Arteta questioned by Arsenal fans for playing Raheem Sterling
One player who endured a nightmare was loanee Raheem Sterling, whose Arsenal career has gone far from hoped.
Those at Chelsea will be stunned by what they’re seeing from the 30-year-old in red and white, as the former England international continues to struggle to make any impact under Arteta.
Against Forest, Sterling’s inability to influence proceedings continued, causing Arsenal fans to question Arteta’s decision to substitute the forward on when the Gunners were in need of a breakthrough.
“Sterling is useless. Why does Arteta keep playing him?” A frustrated fan asked, with many flooding to social media to react to the loanee’s contribution.
One Arsenal supporter said, “Would rather have a loaf of bread on the right than have to watch another Sterling disaster class this season.”
“My eyes hurt from watching Sterling man,” another admitted, on what was yet another terrible outing for the four-time Premier League winner.
Another fan said, “Sterling is useless dude just come on playing like he started the game pathetic.”
With just one Premier League goal contribution to his name since joining Arsenal, Sterling is more than flattering to deceive, as was the consensus from Gooners watching the game.
“Sterling is so lazy it’s inexcusable, he’s walking around the pitch, he’s not even running,” a fed-up Arsenal supporter said.
Plenty of fans shared the opinion that they’ve already seen more than enough of this stage of Sterling’s career, with several asking if Arsenal can cancel the winger’s loan immediately.
“Please give sterling back to Chelsea this evening.”
“Very useless player,” another fan said of the loanee, as others took aim at the club’s decision to complete the deadline day deal.
“Whoever approved Sterling deal to Arsenal need to be jailed …Blud playing like its Sunday league.”
Sterling looked unfit, uninterested and struggled in all areas of his game, which despite frustrating fans, was rather sad to see.
Sterling’s decline is remarkable
Sterling won’t be an Arsenal player next season, with the club internally agreeing that the winger will return to Chelsea at the end of his loan spell.
Such is not a surprise but only highlights that staggering error the Gunners made in the summer by recruiting the outsider in Enzo Maresca’s squad.
| Season | Apps | Goals | Assists |
| 2024/25 | 12 | 0 | 1 |
| 2023/24 | 31 | 8 | 4 |
| 2022/23 | 28 | 6 | 3 |
| 2021/22 | 30 | 13 | 5 |
| 2020/21 | 31 | 10 | 7 |
| 2019/20 | 33 | 20 | 1 |
| 2018/19 | 34 | 17 | 9 |
| 2017/18 | 33 | 18 | 11 |
Looking at how Sterling’s career has plummeted, it’s a rather sad reality for the forward, who after a dreadful spell at Arsenal, will surely struggle to secure his next move.
What the future holds for the 30-year-old is unclear but, is of no concern to Arsenal, who have seen the worst of the ex-England international this season.
