Jurrien Timber had Arsenal fans talking during the Gunners’ 4-0 win over Leeds United at Elland Road.
Arsenal’s streak of three Premier League games without a win is over after Mikel Arteta’s side demolished Leeds 4-0 away from home.
It was a superb result for the Gunners, who extended their lead at the top to seven points ahead of Aston Villa and Manchester City’s games.
Arsenal’s win over Leeds was a statement, but not everything was perfect, as fans made clear during the contest.
Who was your Arsenal Man of the Match vs Leeds United?
Arsenal fans were worried about Jurrien Timber’s crossing against Leeds
After a series of stale attacking performances, Arsenal came alive against Leeds, mostly thanks to the chaos Noni Madueke offered on the right flank.
Madueke was Arsenal’s man of the match at Elland Road, but not everything worked so well on the right.
Jurrien Timber was a topic of discussion among Gooners on social media during the contest, with fans particularly frustrated by the Dutchman’s crossing.
“Timber can’t put in a proper cross to save his life,” one X user posted.
Plenty of other comments rolled in on X regarding Timber’s deliveries from the right side.
“The crosses from Timber are totally unacceptable,” one fan wrote, as another agreed, “Timber’s crossing is horrendous.”
What feedback would you give Mikel Arteta after Arsenal’s win over Leeds?
Positives, negatives, let us know 👀
One Arsenal supporter urged Arteta to change his training methods to improve Timber’s output.
“Arteta needs to place Timber on a special CROSSING training routine!”
Fortunately, just as fans had seen enough of the Netherlands international’s crossing, Timber responded in the best way, putting an inch-perfect delivery on Gabriel Jesus’ head.
Fans were sure to comment on that moment in the 79th minute as well, with the feedback being the complete opposite of what it was earlier in the fixture.
“That’s the best cross I have ever seen Timber pull off,” one fan wrote.
Two other supporters agreed, “That’s possibly the best cross I’ve seen from Timber in a very long time.”
“Timber has put in two of the best crosses of his life today,” one concluded.
Fans are right to be concerned about Timber’s crossing
The sumptuous cross into Jesus in the 79th minute was a turning point, but nowhere near enough to change fans’ opinion that Timber needs to improve his deliveries into the box desperately.
Despite Timber being one of the best full-backs in the world, it has to be said that the 24-year-old’s crossing is in abysmal territory.
Agree or disagree? Jurrien Timber’s only weakness is his crossing
Against Leeds, only one of Timber’s six attempted crosses found one of his teammates, a success rate of just 16%.
Performances like the one at Elland Road won’t improve the 2023 signing’s crossing averages in the Premier League this season, which are terrible, averaging a success rate of just 8%, as per Sofascore.
It’s positive that, arguably, crossing is Timber’s only recognised weakness, but it’s a frailty that Arteta needs to put under the microscope nonetheless.
