Arsenal secured a convincing 2-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League.
The Gunners continue their incredible start to the season, and the win has now pushed them to 25 points – nine ahead of Manchester City and 10 more than Liverpool before their respective games this weekend.
Arsenal were in complete control for large parts of the clash, but it was a set-piece that once again broke the deadlock in the 14th minute.
Viktor Gyokeres, who was on fire against Burnley, scored a close-range header, and that goal has entered the history books.
Arsenal set a new set-piece record in the Premier League
Arsenal are the best team in the world at set-pieces.
The Gunners have constantly troubled clubs with their prowess from corners and free-kicks, so much so that rival fans get scared every time Declan Rice or Bukayo Saka step up to whip a ball in.
That was once again the case against Burnley, as Arsenal fans celebrated every time they were awarded a corner during the game.
One of them led to Gyokeres’ goal, taking the North Londoners’ tally from set-pieces to eight league goals in 10 games so far this season.
No other team in the history of the Premier League has been able to score that many times from set-plays in the first 10 games of the campaign.
If Arsenal continue at the same rate, they will score 30 goals through Nicolas Jover’s brilliance by the time the season ends.
That would be an unbelievable achievement.
Arsenal’s set-piece record will annoy rival fans
Arsenal fans are loving all the set-piece goals they have been scoring, but supporters and managers of rival clubs absolutely hate it.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot has aimed a couple of digs at the Gunners over the last few weeks, while several pundits have had a pop as well.
Fans of other clubs are also constantly having a go at Arsenal for their set-piece goals, and the fact that the North Londoners hold a record for that must really annoy all of them.
However, Arsenal fans will not care one bit. They are loving life at the moment at the top of the Premier League table and have no complaints whatsoever.
That is why you hear “set piece again ole ole” in every single game.
