Arsenal player ratings vs Wolves: Viktor Gyokeres struggled but Gabriel Martinelli was even worse

Arsenal have just been held to a 2-2 draw by Wolves in the Premier League.

The Gunners could’ve gone seven points clear at the top of the table, but the draw means they are just five ahead, and Manchester City have a game in hand.

Goals from Bukayo Saka and Piero Hincapie gave Arsenal a 2-0 lead, but a really poor display late on allowed Wolves to strike twice.

Here are Arsenal Insider’s exclusive player ratings.

Who was Arsenal’s worst player vs Wolves?

Arsenal player ratings vs Wolves

David Raya: 6/10

David Raya had absolutely nothing to do in the first half, but the second half was busier. A screamer from Hugo Bueno ruined what would’ve been his 20th clean sheet, and he was then involved in a mix-up with Gabriel Magalhaes that led to a late equaliser.

Jurrien Timber: 4/10

Jurrien Timber looks nowhere near the player he was in the first half of the season. He needs to come out of the side for Ben White.

William Saliba: 5.5/10

It was great to have William Saliba back, and he had the tough task of marking Tolu Arokodare. The Frenchman struggled against the Wolves forward.

Gabriel Magalhaes: 6/10

Gabriel thought he had helped Arsenal win with his assist for Hincapie’s goal. However, he got in Raya’s way at the end, and that cost the Gunners two points.

Piero Hincapie: 9/10

Another solid game from Hincapie. The Ecuadorian was solid at the back and threatened going forward. He should’ve won a penalty at the end of the first half. After the break, he scored a lovely goal. Our Man of the Match!

Martin Zubimendi: 5/10

An underwhelming showing from Martin Zubimendi. He didn’t do anything spectacular and struggled to pass through the lines. Needs to do better.

Declan Rice: 7/10

Another good performance from Declan Rice. The midfielder picked out Saka with an inch-perfect pass. The assist was almost better than the goal. But he didn’t do much else to have an impact in the final third.

Noni Madueke: 4/10

Noni Madueke wasn’t at his best against Wolves. The Englishman was involved in a few good combinations with Saka and Timber, but nowhere near enough.

Bukayo Saka: 8/10

Saka looked much better in the number 10 role than Eberechi Eze has in the Premier League recently. He scored a lovely goal and was heavily involved in the final third. However, you can tell that he is still learning his new role.

Viktor Gyokeres: 4/10

It was another one of those games for Viktor Gyokeres where he had no service whatsoever. He held the ball up well at times, but was not a threat anywhere near the goal.

Gabriel Martinelli: 3/10

Gabriel Martinelli was energetic and seemed desperate for the ball all game. However, whenever he received possession, he failed to do anything meaningful.

Substitutes

Gabriel Jesus: 5/10

Replaced Gyokeres after the hour mark, Gabriel Jesus worked really hard and caused a bit of chaos in the Wolves box. Sadly, not enough to find the net and was involved in a needless altercation right at the end.

Eberechi Eze: 5/10

Came on for Madueke at the same time as Jesus, Eze looked a lot better and seemed willing to take risks in the final third. But, nothing paid off.

Leandro Trossard: 5/10

Leandro Trossard looked lively after he came on, but like the other substitutes, he couldn’t do much in the final third. He took a nasty blow towards the end of the game and had to be replaced. Hopefully it’s nothing serious.

Riccardo Calafiori: 3/10

Riccardo Calafiori came on in stoppage time and was unfortunate to concede an own goal.
