Bukayo Saka injury timescale revealed as Arsenal approach ten-match run

Arsenal are set to face a period without having Bukayo Saka to call upon after his latest injury blow.

Bukayo Saka limped off in the first half of Arsenal’s 5-1 Premier League win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

In the aftermath of that match, Mikel Arteta was unable to reveal the seriousness of Saka’s injury

However, as Saka was seen leaving Selhurst Park on crutches, it is fair to assume that the Gunners were immediately aware that the winger could have sustained some nasty damage, after he went down gripping his hamstring in South London.

Since then the club will have assessed and monitored the 23-year-old closely, and a clearer picture of how long he might be sidelined for has now emerged.

How long will Bukayo Saka be injured for?

The Times have now reported: “Bukayo Saka is likely to be sidelined for several weeks with an injury to his right hamstring.

“Saka will miss Arsenal’s game against Ipswich Town in the league on Friday, which is the first of ten matches the club play across all competitions before the end of January.

“Assuming it is a moderate hamstring injury, the typical recovery time is between four and six weeks.”

It will come as a huge blow to Arteta if Saka is out of action until the end of January. Not only will the Hale End academy graduate miss out on some crucial fixtures, but he will also need some time to regain his sharpness once he is fit to get back out on the pitch.

In the meantime, the Spanish coach will need to figure out how his side can cope without the talismanic attacker. Gabriel Martinelli impressed on the right wing after Saka was taken on off on Saturday, and may offer a solution in that part of the pitch.

The Arsenal games Bukayo Saka might miss

It is a given that Saka will miss the Gunners’ final game of 2024, as they are set to host Ipswich Town on December 27th.

It would now seem likely that he will be absent for a least the majority of, if not all, of the North London club’s ten January fixtures too.

These outings will include an FA Cup clash with Manchester United, a North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur, the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final against Newcastle United, as well as two Champions League fixtures.

This run of games would represent a real test for Arsenal at the best of times, but without Saka to call upon the challenge now facing Arteta’s men in the new year has grown all the greater.
