Bukayo Saka produced a magnificent performance for Arsenal in their win over Southampton.

Arsenal beat Southampton 3-1 in a Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the scoreline ultimately being comfortable in the end, this was not an easy encounter for Mikel Arteta’s side to negotiate. 

The Saints took the lead against the run of play after the break, before Bukayo Saka inspired a turnaround in the final half hour.

Saka has been praised by Arsenal fans a great deal already this season, and he underlined his credentials as a talismanic figure in the squad once again against the south coast club. 

With 58 minutes on the clock, the Hale End academy graduate played the ball to Kai Havertz, who was able to beat Aaron Ramsdale and level the scores. Ten minutes later, Saka registered another assist, as his delightful cross picked out Gabriel Martinelli’s back post run.

Finally, in the 88th minute, Saka got on the scoresheet himself. The England international pounced upon a loose ball in the Southampton penalty area and fired it first time into the bottom corner, sealing the points once and for all.

Despite being just 23-years-old, Saka has been a reliable source of end product for the Gunners for a number of years now.

What is truly remarkable, though, is that he equally adept at creating opportunities for his teammates as he is at finding the back of the net himself.

In fact, as per StatMuse FC, following his efforts against Southampton, Saka has become: “The first player to create 10 big chances in Europe’s top five leagues this season.”

This is a remarkable record for the winger to boast. Saka is also on track to break Thierry Henry’s record for most assists in a single Premier League campaign.
