One of Mikel Arteta’s star players earned rave reviews for his performance against Wolves but, not everyone will agree.
The Gunners earned three points in the West Midlands after a highly-controversial 90 minutes of action.
With Arsenal pushing to win the Premier League title and Wolves sitting near the relegation zone, it was a contest of great meaning for both clubs, spoiled to some degree by the officials.
Myles Lewis-Skelly was sent off in the most controversial of manners, with Joao Gomes later following the Arsenal defender down the tunnel for a second yellow.
Fortunately, Riccardo Calafiori broke the deadlock to hand the Gunners the win however, it wasn’t only the Italian who earned high praise for his display.

Pat Nevin impressed by Kai Havertz against Wolves
Arteta wants more signings this month and against Wolves, it became clear why the Spaniard has such demands.
Martin Odegaard and Mikel Merino were missing against Wolves, handing teenager Ethan Nwaneri the opportunity to shine in a squad that lacked attacking depth.
Arsenal’s attack has come under great criticism this season, something the front line will want to put to bed despite having to combat so many key absences.
One player with a point to prove was Kai Havertz, who earned high praise for his start at Molineux by Chelsea icon Pat Nevin.
Taking to BBC Sport, Nevin dubbed Havertz ‘fabulous’ for one thing he consistently offers to Arteta’s front line.
“Kai Havertz, I think he’s fabulous at arriving late, he comes from slightly deeper, he is so dangerous,” Nevin said.
The pundit’s comments on Havertz ring true as the forward was causing Wolves all kinds of problems early on, however, not everyone will agree with praising the 25-year-old’s performance.
Havertz adds to chances missed tally
Arsenal fans have been critical about Havertz this season as it becomes more and more clear that the German isn’t the answer to the Gunners’ lack of firepower going forward.
Kai Havertz vs Wolves
0.52 expected goals
1 big chance missed
6 completed passes
17x possession lost
9 duels won
Nevin was right in that Havertz gets into strong positions but, his finishing was far from good enough against Wolves, as his numbers reveal.
The German has now missed 12 big chances this season in the Premier League, sending a warning to the Arsenal board regarding the January transfer window.
