Arsenal thrashed Tottenham 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium in a North London derby which will be remembered for years to come.

Eberechi Eze netted a stunning hat-trick against the team who tried to sign him in the summer, which saw the Gunners move six points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Arsenal supporters were also impressed by the fight shown from the team, and particularly loved Declan Rice’s clash with Xavi Simons.

One thing that this Arsenal team cannot be labelled as is ‘soft’, given the fight shown by Mikel Arteta’s team in the North London derby.

Arsenal fans loved it when Rice hauled Simons to the floor just moments after the Dutch midfielder had produced a late tackle on Jurrien Timber.

The intensity from the crowd translated onto the pitch, with Arteta making sure his players were well up for the battle against Spurs.

Meanwhile, in the aftermath of Eze’s second goal, Rice could be heard demanding more from Arsenal’s players, despite the team already being 3-0 up.

Ahead of the match, Arsenal players were asked what the North London derby means to them, and it was clear they were ready for the game.

Following the derby day win, Arsenal supporters took to social media to hail the fight Arteta has installed in his team.

One fan claimed: “It’s men against boys stuff. Arteta has changed my life.”

“Missed having fighters in the team,” added another.

There was yet more praise for Rice: “I didn’t know Rice had that in his locker. Absolutely love it. We need characters like that once in a while.”

Declan Rice should be a future Arsenal captain

Rice is certainly showing that he should be a future Arsenal captain, having held the same role at West Ham at a young age.

Bukayo Saka previously hailed Rice’s leadership and spoke about how the 26-year-old has become a key figure in the dressing room.

The midfielder also plays with the same level of leadership on the pitch and is often the player setting the standards for the Gunners.

Right now, Martin Odegaard is the captain at the Emirates, but Rice is certainly an option Arteta must consider in the future.
