It was exactly the match Eze needed at the Emirates, giving the summer signing the chance to rebuild his confidence before returning to action in the Premier League.
His two assists certainly would’ve allowed his belief to grow, particularly as they represented the first time an Arsenal player had recorded multiple assists in a home FA Cup match since 2016.
The last star to do it was an unlikely one, as Hector Bellerin claimed two assists in the tournament against Sunderland back in January 2016.

Assists are exactly what Arteta would’ve expected from Eze when signing him in the summer, and against Wigan, the Englishman added a much-needed double to his tally.

When Eze is in form, he doesn’t do anything by halves, as we saw with his hat-trick against Tottenham and now, his two assists in the FA Cup.
By adding two to his assist total this season, Eze moved closer to breaking his career-best record of 11 assists in all competitions in a single season.
