Forget Eberechi Eze, Arsenal fans all think £34m star was the ‘best player’ vs Crystal Palace

Arsenal have beaten Crystal Palace 1-0 in the Premier League.

The Gunners weren’t at their best in the first half. They really struggled to break the Eagles down, and it was Oliver Glasner’s side who looked more likely to score.

However, Eberechi Eze opened the scoring with a stunning strike. That was his first-ever goal for Arsenal in the Premier League, and it is one he will remember for a long, long time.

Despite getting on the score sheet, Eze was nowhere near his usual level. He was sloppy with some of his touches and passes and struggled to get going.

The same can be said about most Arsenal players, especially in the first half, but one man impressed everybody – Jurrien Timber.

Arsenal fans think Jurrien Timber was the best player vs Crystal Palace

Timber has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season.

The Dutchman has barely put a foot wrong all campaign, and he was once again exceptional against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal fans love Eze, but Timber was their Man of the Match on Sunday.

One Arsenal fan tweeted: “Timber our best player, but that’s par for the course for the lad this season.”

Another wrote: “Timber has to be the best player in EPL, nobody can tell me anything.”

Jurrien Timber is absolutely ridiculous. 8.5/10 floor,” said another.

“Another Gooner posted: “Timber is the best RB in the Premier League and nobody comes close. What am I seeing?!”

“You could make a pretty convincing argument for Timber being MOTM every week,” tweeted another.

Jurrien Timber has to win one special Arsenal award this season

Timber has exceeded everyone’s expectations over the last two campaigns.

The £34 million man suffered a horrific injury in his first-ever Premier League game. That was the worst possible start, and many people expected him to take a while to adapt after his recovery.

However, Timber has been near-flawless since the start of the last campaign, and as things stand, nobody deserves the Arsenal Player of the Season award more than him.

If that does happen, it would be the first time in this century that a defender wins the Player of the Season award in the red half of North London.

The last defender to get his hands on the award was Nigel Winterburn in 1999.
