Arsenal face a tough encounter on matchday 11 of the Premier League season, as high-flying Sunderland await.

After earning promotion, Sunderland showed they were committed to the cause, signing some top players over the summer transfer window to support Regis Le Bris.

One of the signings was, of course, Granit Xhaka, who will reunite with Arsenal for the first time in the Premier League since his 2023 exit.

Xhaka has already previewed Sunderland and Arsenal’s clash, showing respect for the side he spent seven years with, but on the pitch, the niceties will be spared.

Ian Wright predicts whether Arsenal will keep a clean sheet against Sunderland

Sitting fourth in the table and seven points behind Arsenal, Sunderland can’t be underestimated by the Gunners.

The Black Cats also won’t be thinking about underestimating Arsenal, as it’s not a case of whether Mikel Arteta’s side can be beaten at present, it’s whether they can be scored against.

Arsenal matched a 122-year record in midweek by keeping their eighth consecutive clean sheet in all competitions, and Ian Wright thinks the number will rise to nine on Saturday.

Previewing the match on the Stick To Football podcast, Wright predicted another clean sheet for the Gunners, but he didn’t at first.

“I’m going to go 2-1,” the Arsenal legend initially predicted before changing his mind.

“You know what I’m going to do? No, 2-0. 2-0 Arsenal.”

Another clean sheet and a win would take Arteta’s side into the November international break with full confidence, which is needed as a tough set of fixtures awaits after the interval.

Beating Sunderland to keep things ticking at the summit of the Premier League table is necessary, given what’s to come.

After the international break, Arsenal will welcome Tottenham to the Emirates in the first North London Derby of the season.

Followed by that comes, without a doubt, the Gunners’ biggest test so far, as unbeaten Bayern Munich visit N5 in the Champions League.

To conclude November, Arsenal face another London derby, travelling west to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

If Arsenal get through November unscathed just as they did in October, they’d send a remarkable message out to the Premier League and, in Europe.
