Pundits Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane have called Arsenal boring after the side’s display against Manchester United.

The Gunners struggled to break down the Red Devils in the first half at the Emirates Stadium, with very few chances going their way.

Ruben Amorim’s side kept it tight in their back five shape, denying space in front of their backline and shuffling everything wide.

It meant that Arsenal failed to put on the spectacle that the home crowd so desperately wanted against their old rivals.

That led to some criticism from Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane around the style of play from Mikel Arteta and his side.

Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane and Ian Wright on “boring” Arsenal

After a far from enthralling first half, Jamie Carragher opened up a discussion about how “boring” Arsenal are in their style of play.

Speaking on The Overlap, the former Liverpool star said: “Arsenal are boring aren’t they?” and Keane replied: “There should be a song about Arsenal being boring.”

One of the age-old songs about the Gunners back in the day was about how they always used to win 1-0 in games.

Carragher brought that up, saying: “It used to be 1-0 to the Arsenal didn’t it?”

Ian Wright, looking to hit back on the discussion, replied: “Yeah but I scored the goal, so I wasn’t bothered.”

For too long, Arsenal have been slammed for being too soft and not winning enough, but now there’s discussions about how they should win in a certain style.

So long as they can pick up three points and move a step closer to winning the Premier League title, fans won’t care about how it’s won.

Arsenal’s goal scoring record rubbishes boring claim

While Arsenal are certainly pragmatic at times, teams are often coming to the Emirates Stadium with the intention of blocking them in deep areas.

The Gunners find it tough at times, but once they score that first one, they are often more than capable of sniffing out situations to score even more.

With 28 goals scored, Arteta’s side have only scored one less than Liverpool, more than Manchester City and only just behind the leading scorers Chelsea – who have 31.

It rubbishes the claim that the side are boring, with goals flowing once the low blocks have been destroyed by the forward line.
