A win against Ipswich Town on match day 18 of the Premier League season saw Arsenal secure second place.
The victory rocketed the Gunners from fourth to second following Chelsea’s defeat to Fulham, seeing Mikel Arteta’s side head into 2025 behind only Liverpool.
Arsenal beat Ipswich 1-0 in a comfortable game at the Emirates however, the performance might have left fans feeling rather bored.
Cries of ‘boring boring Arsenal’ rang around the stadium, in a game that left a lot to be desired but, delivered a crucial three points.

Henry Winter shares Martin Odegaard verdict after Ipswich behaviour
While Myles Lewis-Skelly starred against Ipswich, it was Kai Havertz who picked up the Man of the Match award, netting the match-winner.
On a night that was rather uneventful for the Arsenal squad, there were some top performers and some who simply needed to do more.
Jurrien Timber deserved Man of the Match for his display, while captain Martin Odegaard was slammed for his actions during the contest.
Reporting on the fixture was journalist Henry Winter, who admitted he was unimpressed by one thing the Arsenal captain did at the Emirates.
“Martin Odegaard goes down holding his face, after being touched lightly on the chest by Jack Clarke, ref falls for it, and Ipswich denied a promising break. Odegaard is a fantastic player, a good captain, but that was beneath him,” Winter said.
The renowned reporter was referring to a passage of play that Odegaard manipulated through a soft foul, denying the opposition of a break, which wasn’t appreciated by many.
Odegaard has been criticised since returning from injury, as the skipper continues to rediscover top form after spending six weeks on the sidelines earlier in the campaign.
Odegaard’s game in numbers against Ipswich
While Winter was unhappy with Odegaard’s behaviour on the pitch, the midfielder also flattered to deceive throughout the contest.
Martin Odegaard vs Ipswich Town
92 touches
84% passes completed
2 key passes
0 successful crosses
0 successful dribbles
50% ground duels won
18x possession lost
1x dribbled past
The 26-year-old was heavily involved in the game, seeing 92 touches of the ball however, failed to make a real difference for the most part.
Such has been the case for Odegaard in recent weeks, being a player who can single-handedly carry Arsenal to victory but also, a player whose form has been questioned.
Given Bukayo Saka’s absence through injury, Arteta needs his attackers to step up, with Odegaard being one name who can boost his performance levels in front of goal.
