Mikel Arteta has been impressed by Eberechi Eze’s pressing over recent weeks, which he claims is a key to being part of this Arsenal team.

Eze looks to be finally finding his feet at Arsenal, and his performance against Bayer Leverkusen was one of his best so far at the Emirates Stadium.

Agree or disagree: Eberechi Eze just scored Arsenal’s goal of the season

To break the deadlock, Eze scored a sensational goal against Leverkusen, as he took the ball on the turn and lashed it home from outside the penalty area.

Now, following a run in the team during Martin Odegaard’s absence, Eze has been making the role his own and learning how to be an Arsenal player.

Mikel Arteta hails Eberechi Eze’s pressing for Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has hailed the performance of Eberechi Eze against Bayer Leverkusen and thinks he is finally understanding what is being asked of him at Arsenal.

Since his £68 million move from Crystal Palace, Eze has not made too much of an impact in North London, but his fortunes look to be changing.

The Spanish manager believes that playing every three days for the Gunners is helping him to get used to playing with his teammates.

Speaking about Eze’s pressing, Arteta told the media: “Yeah, without that, you have no chance to play in this team.

“Because everybody does it, and that’s the magic of it, and the reason why we are so consistent in winning matches and preventing the opponent from scoring.

“He can do it. If he could not do it, I would never demand it. He can do it, he’s willing to do it, and he’s doing it better and better every day.”

When asked about Eze’s improved form, the manager added: “Yeah, well, I think he’s playing every three days now.

“He has the rhythm, he has the understanding with his teammates as well, of what we want, especially his level of activity.

“With the ball, without the ball, in the spaces that he moves, the purpose that he’s showing every time he’s in and around the box as well. Which is the thing and the reason why he’s here, to create those kinds of moments.”

Eze went off in the 69th minute with a small knock; however, the midfielder has revealed that he will be ok ahead of the Carabao Cup final.

Odegaard is due to return for the cup final on Sunday, but he now looks to be firmly behind the 27-year-old in the pecking order.

Arteta is now well stocked in the number ten role for the remainder of the season, with Kai Havertz also able to feature in that role.
