Alan Shearer named three Arsenal players in his Premier League Team of the Week following matchday four.
After an eventful September international break, Arsenal returned to action in the league with a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
Ange Postecoglou didn’t enjoy his return to the Emirates as Mikel Arteta’s side put on a show, with Martin Zubimendi at the heart of it.
Zubimendi has earned a lot of praise for his performance against Forest; however, Shearer thought another Arsenal player was just as good on the day.

Alan Shearer loved what Cristhian Mosquera did against Nottingham Forest
In his Premier League Team of the Week, Shearer selected three Arsenal players, one of whom was unsurprisingly Zubimendi.
Noni Madueke’s excellence against Forest also didn’t go unnoticed, but when it came to the other standout, the pundit couldn’t look past Cristhian Mosquera’s contribution.
Mosquera replaced the injured William Saliba and was faultless against Forest’s impressive front line, with Shearer sending high praise to the defender.
“Has stepped in for the injured William Saliba and was easily one of the best players on the pitch,” the pundit wrote.
It’s not only the £13m summer signing’s performance against Forest that has been a positive, but also his form and ability to be trusted so soon into his Premier League career.
Thanks to Mosquera, Saliba was given an additional rest period, something that was not possible in the Arsenal squad last year.
Still only 21, the Spaniard is already turning heads, with his transfer from Valencia looking to be more and more of a steal.
Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba will love Mosquera
Last season was so tough for Arsenal due to injuries and the lack of options Arteta had beyond his favoured XI.
This led to additional pressure being placed on those at the top of the pecking order to remain fit and perform, which wasn’t always possible.
Cristhian Mosquera vs Nottingham Forest
8 defensive actions
1 last man tackle
92 touches
91% pass completion
100% ground duels won
We saw Jurrien Timber have to play through an injury, while Gabriel Magalhaes required surgery, with Arteta’s resources stretched when it mattered most.
With players such as Mosquera now on board, players who have hit the ground running in the Premier League, such pressure has been relieved beyond belief.
It’s an exciting time for Arsenal’s back line, with Arteta’s options being incredibly impressive.
