Raheem Sterling earned his fifth Premier League start of the season in Arsenal’s draw with Everton.

Sterling’s loan has been a nightmare this season, arriving from Chelsea on deadline day and failing to convince Mikel Arteta

The Arsenal manager showed trust in the Englishman at Goodison Park as the Gunners drew 1-1 with Everton in the final meeting between the two clubs at the ground.

It was an afternoon to forget for the visitors who dropped points once again to place the Premier League title in Liverpool’s hands, however, it wasn’t all bad for Sterling

Raheem Sterling and Leandro Trossard achieve four-year Arsenal feat

For only the second time this season, Sterling recorded a Premier League goal contribution.

The former England international set up Leandro Trossard to give Arsenal the lead on Merseyside, playing a perfect ball through to the Belgian.

Though the goal merely represented Arsenal dropping points from a winning position once again, it stood for something rather positive too.

By setting up 30-year-old Trossard, Sterling marked the first time in four years that two players aged 30 or over combined for a goal in the Premier League for Arsenal.

The last time the feat happened was against Burnley in 2021, as Willian assisted Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

It was a rare, deadly passage of play from the Gunners, crafted by Sterling and executed by Trossard, two players very few would’ve expected to see combine for a goal.

Sterling looks for a bright end to nightmare loan

With his second Premier League assist of the season, Sterling sent Arteta a message to confirm that there’s still a spark inside the winger.

Sterling’s future is unknown as he nears the end of his spell at Arsenal, which has been nothing short of a nightmare.

The Englishman has a total of two goal contributions in the entire Premier League season of 2024/25, failing to score as of yet but recording two assists.

It’s been quite the fall from grace for Sterling, who will have a lot to prove over the summer in search of his next club.
