Arsenal fell to their second defeat of the season as they were beaten 1-0 away at Newcastle United.

It was a poor display from Arsenal, who offered very little going forward after Alexander Isak headed Newcastle in front early on.

Mikel Arteta’s side were completely toothless in attack, and fell to a defeat which could be hugely damaging for their Premier League title hopes.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright was furious at what he saw, and he has now expressed his frustration at his former side’s display.

Ian Wright slams Arsenal’s lack of creativity vs Newcastle

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Wright highlighted the absence of Martin Odegaard, but claimed that Arsenal need to find a solution to create chances without him.

“It was a very poor performance from a team that are supposedly title contenders,” he stated.

“I thought we passed the ball very slowly, there was no energy in the team, it was very predictable.

“We are missing chief creator Odegaard but to not be able to find a solution to that – one shot on target against Bournemouth and today.

“One thing you have to do is create a lot more chances than they did today.”

Arsenal’s creativity is a worry

Arsenal were completely blunt in attack against Newcastle, and this has been a recurring theme without Odegaard in the team.

The only clear opportunity fell to Declan Rice in the closing minutes, and Arsenal simply cannot rely on one big chance per game.

Odegaard looks set to return this week, which is a huge boost for Arsenal, but their lack of creativity without him is a huge concern.

As important as Odegaard is, Arsenal cannot become a side that falters as soon as one key player is missing, and they cannot become too reliant on the Norweigan to create in every single game.
