Declan Rice was spotted smiling towards the Arsenal fans after losing the Champions League final, almost as if he knew they would be back.

There has often been a lot of focus on his reaction at full-time this season, but no more so than when Rice was spotted telling his teammates, ‘it’s not over’ after losing to Man City.

The midfielder was facing the Arsenal fans for Gabriel’s spot kick, and he was just smiling after the Brazilian blazed his effort over the bar.

Rice says the team are still backing Gabriel and Eze after they missed their spot kicks and admits the pair were devastated after the match.

The North London club will be devastated to have lost in Budapest, but there is a clear sense that this team is here to stay.

Rice’s reaction certainly seems to reflect that, and in the summer, Arsenal will likely try to improve the squad again in a bid to defend their Premier League title and win the Champions League.

The 27-year-old has produced an absolutely heroic season for the Gunners, and he is certainly a player who deserves to eventually get his hands on the European Cup.

But for now, he will go away and enjoy the World Cup with England and then have a well-deserved break after making 55 appearances in total and playing 4,456 minutes in total.
