Arsenal secured a well-deserved victory over Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
The Gunners wanted to end the year on a high and they did just that. It wasn’t a vintage performance by any means, but Mikel Arteta’s side dominated the game and deservedly picked up all three points.
Kai Havertz, who won the Player of the Match award for his performance against the Tractor Boys, scored the only goal of the game in the first half.
At the other end of the pitch, Arsenal kept a clean sheet – that will be remembered for a long time by David Raya for one reason.
David Raya breaks David Seaman’s Arsenal record vs Ipswich Town
Arsenal triggered their £27 million option to sign Raya on a permanent deal last summer.
The Spaniard initially joined the Gunners on loan in 2023 and he constantly made the headlines, Many people didn’t want him to replace Aaron Ramsdale in goal.
However, Arteta was adamant that Raya was his number one, and the Arsenal manager’s decision has proved to be the right one.
The 29-year-old has been one of Arsenal’s best players this season. He didn’t have a lot to do against Ipswich on Friday night, but he still managed to break an incredible record.
Raya’s clean sheet against the Tractor Boys was his 23rd in 50 Premier League games for Arsenal.
That is the most clean sheets kept by an Arsenal goalkeeper in their first 50 appearances for the club in the Premier League since David Seaman kept 22 all the way back in 1993 – 31 years ago.
That is a phenomenal record to have, and we won’t be surprised at all to see him break a few more in the coming years at Arsenal.

David Raya and David Seaman both have one thing in common at Arsenal
Raya and Seaman are very different goalkeepers.
The Englishman was more old-school. Most of his job revolved around shot-stopping and he produced a few incredible saves during his time at the club.
Raya, on the other hand, is a ball-playing goalkeeper. He’s as good as any outfielder in possession, and that is integral to the way Arsenal play.
However, there is one thing that both Raya and Seaman have in common – an incredibly solid defence in front of them.
Seaman had club legends like Lee Dixon, Tony Adams, Martin Keown and Nigel Winterburn in front of him – they are all among the greatest defenders England has produced.
Raya now has the likes of Jurrien Timber, Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba in front of him. All of them have the potential to become Arsenal legends one day.
