Arsenal have been linked with multiple strikers ahead of the summer transfer window.

It is clear that the Gunners will target a new number nine after failing to reinforce that position in any of the last few windows.

Mikel Arteta pleaded with the Arsenal board for a new striker in January, but the Spaniard did not get his wish at the time. That, in many people’s eyes, has cost them the Premier League title.

Things will surely be different in the summer, and one Arsenal target has got all the fans excited with what he did on Thursday night.

Arsenal target Hugo Ekitike copies Thierry Henry’s celebration vs Tottenham

Hugo Ekitike has been one of the best strikers in the Bundesliga this season.

The Frenchman only joined Eintracht Frankfurt last summer, and his performances for the German club have been magnificent.

Ekitike has scored 20 goals and provided eight assists for the Eagles so far. His latest strike came in North London, at the home of Arsenal’s fiercest rivals.

The 22-year-old scored a stunning opener against Tottenham in the Europa League on Thursday night, and Arsenal fans all noticed what he did right after.

Ekitike ran towards the Spurs fans and slid in front of them – just like Thierry Henry did against Tottenham back in 2002.

Henry even has a statue of that celebration outside the Emirates Stadium.

Ekitike, like the Arsenal legend, is French, and we won’t be surprised at all if Henry was one of his idols when he was growing up.

Arsenal fans react after Hugo Ekitike copies Thierry Henry’s celebration

Ekitike has been linked with a move to Arsenal as an alternative to Alexander Isak.

The French forward is a terrific player, and his goal against Tottenham on Thursday night showed just how good he is.

After watching him copy Henry’s celebration, Arsenal fans took to social media and had their say on Ekitike, who can be signed for £67 million this summer.

One Arsenal fan tweeted: “Scoring from distance and doing the Henry celebration in front of the Tottenham fans. Ekitike wants an Arsenal move!”

Another said: “And the Thierry Henry celebration against Tottenham. Ekitike is him!”

“The way he just gallops on the outside and the Henry celebration at White Hart Lane. Ekitike is so Arsenal-coded. Better than Gyokeres by a mile. Can allow Martinelli to cut inside more too,” said another.
