The talk of Arsenal’s opening day win over Manchester United is largely on Viktor Gyokeres’ debut.
The jury is already out on Gyokeres, who has played just 60 minutes of football in the Premier League so far for Arsenal.
Pressure is piling on Mikel Arteta’s new striker after he failed to make a direct impact against Manchester United, with some wild opinions already floating around.
Some believe Arsenal made a mistake signing Gyokeres, who has even been branded ‘useless’ for his debut, which is perplexing to say the least.

Alan Shearer’s prediction about Viktor Gyokeres
What is quite staggering is that the Swede wasn’t remotely poor on his first showing for Arsenal in the Premier League.
Gary Neville noticed the threat Gyokeres brought to the Arsenal squad, as he frequently attempted to stretch United’s defence with runs, using his strength to make his presence known.
The real issue is that Arsenal’s forwards struggled to create at Old Trafford, leaving the striker isolated, but those who have played the game realise there’s much more to come.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football, Alan Shearer made a prediction about how the rest of the season could look for Gyokeres.
“I think Gyokeres will score goals in that Arsenal team. He has to, doesn’t he?” Shearer said.
“I know he didn’t have the best of games at the weekend, but I would, looking at him and his style and all those things, I would think he will get more goals.”
Shearer spoke about Gyokeres moments after his debut, also calling for the media not to judge the £64m signing after one game.
Having scored 97 goals for Sporting CP in just two seasons, it’s clear that the goals will come for the Swede once he’s adapted, which won’t happen overnight.

Gyokeres showed plenty of positives on his debut
The criticism Gyokeres is receiving is unacceptable, but many hope the noise only fuels the 27-year-old to succeed at Arsenal.
Everyone at the club is on the forward’s side, notably Ian Wright, who sent Gyokeres a message after his debut.
While he fired no shots on goal at Old Trafford, there were plenty of encouraging signs from the centre-forward, who signalled when he was making runs, showed his strength and made United nervous whenever the ball was in his vicinity.
With time will come confidence and adaptation, with it already clear that, if Arsenal can get their final ball right, Gyokeres will have plenty of chances to show what he can do.
