Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer praise Myles Lewis-Skelly impact for England

The praise for Myles Lewis-Skelly has continued after his impressive England debut that has only seen him rise to new heights.

The Arsenal star will be hoping to make those displays for the Three Lions a regular occurrence, but for now, he will enjoy soaking up the feeling of featuring for his national side.

Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast about the 18-year-old, Gary Lineker said: “Alan, we must talk about Myles Lewis-Skelly because, I mean, 18 years old, he’s got a big future… I mean, he knows how good he is.

“It’s the kind of attitude I think you need at this level, you’ve got to believe in yourself, it’s really, really important.

“And to score a goal, the youngest debutant ever I think for England to score.”

Shearer added: “What a career he’s got ahead of him. I love his attitude. He’s got a bit of arrogance about him, he’s got a strut about him, he’s got the look about him where he feels as if he’s, I don’t know, he’s already made it at the top level.

“I love the attitude and I love everything about him that he’s bringing to the early part of his career and he’s only going to get better.

“He’s classy, he’s tough, he’s hard, he’s got a nasty side to him and I love that, I love someone who’s got the arrogance about him.

“Just the way he just the way he handles himself and the way he is, and his attitude and everything, I love everything about him already.”

Those words no doubt come as a huge compliment for the youngster, from two ex-professionals who know exactly what it takes to play for England.

Myles Lewis-Skelly has exactly what Arsenal and England need

The recent trajectory of Arsenal and the England national side are quite similar, with a team rising back to the top but not quite clinching the silverware they desire.

What both need is a self-assuredness that they can get the job done, playing without the fear of losing but the desire to win.

Lewis-Skelly plays with that assuredness, regardless of whether he’s up against someone in the youth team or even Erling Haaland.

That can be the driving factor behind a push for both club and country that could see them end up with silverware in the next year or so.
