Deployed at left-back by Tuchel, Lewis-Skelly formed part of a back four that included Dan Burn, who was also making his first appearance for his nation.

One fan simply wrote on X: “Myles Lewis-Skelly. My hero.”

Another added: “Lewis-Skelly might be generational.”

Many fans were delighted that he was able to silence these haters, with one supporter writing: “Absolutely delighted for Myles Lewis-Skelly. A strange section of social media trying to shoot him down ever since he broke through. Phenomenal talent.”

Another added: “Remember the name, Myles Lewis-Skelly Talk down on him ALL you like, he is not going anywhere.”

Meanwhile, one fan wrote: “The way people tried to attack this impressive 18 y/o boy online has been disgusting. Despite the hate Myles is proving every doubter wrong with his ACTIONS. Most would’ve been broken by the comments online, but Myles keeps shining. Myles Lewis-Skelly’s maturity is special.”
