Alan Shearer’s Premier League title prediction doesn’t change after Arsenal’s 2-2 draw vs Wolves

Arsenal suffered a blow to their title hopes after their 2-2 draw against Wolves.

The Gunners were two goals up at Molineux thanks to Bukayo Saka and Piero Hincapie, but they blew that lead in the second half.

Opta have reduced Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League title by about five per cent following the draw, which is far from ideal.

Alan Shearer, however, is not changing the prediction he last made.

Alan Shearer thinks Arsenal will still win the Premier League ahead of Manchester City

Like every pundit, Shearer has changed his Premier League title prediction a few times this season.

The Newcastle United legend knew that his beloved club wouldn’t be in contention, so it was always going to be between Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal.

After the first two games of the season, Shearer predicted that Arsenal would finish third in the table, behind Arne Slot and Pep Guardiola’s side.

In January, the Magpies icon changed his mind and claimed that the Gunners will win the Premier League this season. [Standard]

After the draw against Wolves on Wednesday, you would imagine that Shearer has changed his prediction again, but he has stuck to his guns this time.

He said on the Rest is Football podcast: “They’ll probably still win it, just. I think if you need a game after what has happened, then it is not a bad one to have in your local rivals.

“I know they have a new manager and I know it is away, but what a response it would be to go and win at Tottenham at the weekend.

“I never expected Arsenal to do it the easy way, I always knew there were going to be bumps and everything else along the road and nervy times. People are going to be chucking questions and bombs and everything at you, and you have to get over that.

“I did expect this to happen. Let’s see what they are made of.”

Agree or disagree, winning the Champions League but NOT the Premier League would not be enough this season

What Arsenal players need to remember after dropping points with Wolves

It must be a difficult time for Arsenal players after back-to-back draws in the Premier League against Brentford and Wolves.

All the noise from outside is that they will ‘bottle it’ again and that it’s Manchester City’s title to lose from this point.

However, the Arsenal first-team squad must remember that the title race is still very much in their hands.

Mikel Arteta’s side are still five points clear at the top of the table, albeit City have a game in hand. Even if Guardiola’s men win that extra fixture, they will be two behind.

So, all Arsenal need to do is match Manchester City’s results from now until the end of the season. If they do that, the title will come back to North London after over two decades.
