Arsenal transfer target Alexander Isak impressed once again when he featured for Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

The Swedish international has long been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, but the North London outfit haven’t been able to get a deal over the line though, which has been made clear in their matches against the Magpies.

Alexander Isak impressed for his side as Newcastle knocked Arsenal out of the Carabao Cup on their way to the final.

There, they met Liverpool as Eddie Howe looked to end the long wait for a domestic trophy with his side.

Alexander Isak scores in Carabao Cup final for Newcastle

Alexander Isak played a crucial role for Newcastle United in their Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley.

The Magpies started well as Dan Burn headed home an opener from a set-piece, giving them a much-needed lead.

That lead was then doubled by Isak, who struck with a first-time finish, pushing them even closer to finally winning silverware.

While a late goal from Federico Chiesa made it tense, it was Newcastle who ended up as Carabao Cup winners for 2025.

Isak’s performance was the type that has shown why Arsenal have such interest, with a clinical edge to his game when needed.

That goal also saw him manage something that Arsenal legend Thierry Henry never managed, a finish in a cup final.

Thierry Henry’s record in major cup finals

While Thierry Henry will always go down as an Arsenal legend and a great of the game, he did struggle in major cup finals.

In his career, the Frenchman reached nine cup finals, but failed to register a goal in any single one of those games.

That includes Arsenal’s Champions League final in 2006, where the Gunners went down to defeat at the hands of Barcelona.

It’s something that now seemingly follows the star, but shows how Isak has it all at the moment.

Not only is he scoring in most games, he is providing in big moments when the side needs it the most.
