Ally McCoist has a strange theory about Arsenal that could be about to seriously help Mikel Arteta

Every game remaining in the Premier League is a cup final for Arsenal if the Gunners want to win the title.

Six points currently separate Arsenal and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table, and while the advantage is there for all to see, we all know how quickly things can change.

For Mikel Arteta, the only focus is winning the games in front of his squad, with Brentford next up for the Gunners.

The trip to the Gtech Community Stadium will commence a three-game run away from home in the league, which Ally McCoist believes is a blessing in disguise.

Ally McCoist thinks Arsenal might benefit from playing away from home

McCoist has been saying it how it is with Arsenal, but amid sharing his thoughts on the Gunners’ position in the title race, he revealed a theory he has.

On talkSPORT, the pundit spoke about what he’s realised upon visiting the Emirates.

“I don’t know about you, Jeff, but I’m actually of the opinion that I could feel a tension inside the Emirates,” he said.

Arsenal fans have been questioned at the Emirates in recent weeks, particularly after booing the team off the pitch against Manchester United.

That being said, there was a clear upturn when Arsenal beat Sunderland 3-0, which McCoist acknowledged.

“Not Saturday, but generally speaking, there’s an understandable nervousness throughout the place with the fans because they haven’t got over the line, and haven’t been in that position for a long, long time.”

The TNT Sports commentator then shared his idea that, perhaps, playing the next three games away from home will help Arsenal stray away from any nervous energy.

“I get it, I can understand it. From that point of view, I looked at the performance against Leeds, and I thought they might be better suited, actually, playing away from home. Four of the next five are away from home.”

If McCoist’s theory is right, then Arteta will be delighted, as the away fixtures are waiting to be attacked.

Arsenal have a perfect Emirates reunion to look forward to

Next up in the Premier League come Brentford, followed by Wolves and then Tottenham, clashes against European hopefuls and two relegation candidates that really must be won.

Arsenal are strong at home and away, which is why they sit six points clear at the top of the table.

That being said, there is a difference between playing at home and away, and it’s that the Gunners have been scoring significantly less on the road.

The most recent trip to Elland Road contradicts that, as Arsenal won 4-0 against Leeds United in a statement win.

Building on the Leeds victory is a must, with no greater opportunity than against Brentford, Wolves and Spurs before returning to N5 in March.

The Emirates will welcome Arteta’s side home with open arms on the first day of March, as a London derby against Chelsea recommences the home fixtures.

It’s a crucial few weeks ahead of Arsenal, who need every point available to maintain their lead at the top.
