Andrea Berta has already spoken to Mikel Arteta and both Stan and Josh Kroenke about the Arsenal manager’s contract, sources close to Arsenal Insider understand.

Change is happening at Arsenal thanks to Berta, and not only when it comes to the plan to hire head scout Maurizio Micheli.

After a successful summer in the transfer window, the sporting director has turned his attention towards contracts, with Arteta’s future currently under review.

Bukayo Saka is progressing towards a new contract, and the Arsenal manager is set to follow, with a plan prepared to map out the Spaniard’s future at the Emirates.

Andrea Berta has informed the Kroenkes of contract plan for Mikel Arteta

Arteta is currently under contract in N5 until 2028, but Berta has made his intentions known way ahead of time.

Sources have told Arsenal Insider’s transfer expert Graeme Bailey that the sporting director has already discussed a new deal with the boss, with it confirmed that the pair will discuss further details in 2026.

We understand that Berta has been open with Stan Kroenke on the matter, assuring the Arsenal owner that talks will take place next year in a bid to avoid distraction this season.

Bailey informed Arsenal Insider that the entire club are completely ‘aligned’ that a new contract will be deservedly offered to Arteta.

“I am told that Andrea Berta, as you would expect, has everything in hand when it comes to Mikel Arteta,” Bailey explained.

“They are in contact regularly, and they will sit down when they are ready. Berta has already confirmed with the club’s owners his plans to tie down Arteta, and the whole club are aligned.

“They believe Arteta is special and one of the best coaches in the world, so naturally, rivals would look at him, but Arteta is loving what is happening at Arsenal; they are building a dynasty, and he is central to it.”

There are no doubts behind the scenes at Arsenal that Arteta is the man to take the club forward, with contract talks expected to pick up pace in 2026.

Arsenal’s contract plan for Arteta rubbish external sacking claims

The news is refreshing for Arsenal, but leaves some in the media red-faced after some crazy predictions early into the 2025/26 season.

Wayne Rooney said Arteta could be sacked if Arsenal don’t win the Premier League this season.

“If they don’t win it now, then, you know, you probably see a change of manager if they don’t win it now.”

Elsewhere on talkSPORT, Tony Cascarino made his opinion known that Arteta ‘won’t survive’ as manager if the Gunners don’t top the table in May.

The talk has been frustrating and pressure-inducing, but for the Spaniard and the club, the end goal hasn’t changed, which is to maintain the project that is progressing week by week.
