Arsenal fans are really frustrated with Andrea Berta following Antoine Semenyo’s start to life at Manchester City.
The attacker already has two goals in his first two matches, and is unlucky not to have had a third after VAR controversially ruled out his second against Newcastle United.
TRUE or FALSE: Antoine Semenyo would have been a better signing for Arsenal than Eberechi Eze…
Arsenal have long been linked with Semenyo, but instead, the Gunners watched him head to the Etihad to join their Premier League title rivals.
Berta is keen to sign another attacker in 2026, and the new City star could have been the perfect option for them.
Arsenal fans fume at Andrea Berta’s Antoine Semenyo decision
Arsenal fans cannot fathom why Andrea Berta did not make a stronger push to sign Antoine Semenyo, instead allowing him to join Manchester City.
Semenyo’s first choice move was actually Arsenal, which will make the deal an even more bitter pill to swallow if he helps fire Pep Guardiola’s team to glory.
The 26-year-old has been in scintillating form this term, producing 12 goals and four assists in 24 matches.
Following his impressive display away at St James’ Park, Arsenal fans have now taken to social media to question why they were not in for him.
One fan said: “Semenyo is already enjoying life at Manchester City. I don’t know why Andrea Berta didn’t pull this transfer off.”
Imagine this: You are Andrea Berta, Arsenal have given you £50m to spend in January, where is that money going? 👀
“Maybe Berta’s first mistake was letting Semenyo go to City this window. He has started well for them. Unless, of course, Berta has a better trick up his sleeve,” questioned another.
There were further question marks raised over the deal: “Why would Arteta and Berta let City get Semenyo? Especially when we need a left winger.”
A fourth added: “Why did Berta force us to sign Eze and Gyokeres. Imagine we got Semenyo.”
Finally, one fan stated that the Viktor Gyokeres money should have gone on Semenyo instead: “We would’ve been better off using the Gyokeres money on Semenyo. Berta, what have you done?”
For Semenyo’s £65 million release clause, Arsenal could have fixed their left-wing issue, which is still an area they are likely to address next summer.
Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo could cause Arsenal issues
Rayan Cherki is another Manchester City player who could cause issues for Arsenal, with the Frenchman also on fire this season.
Erling Haaland and Igor Thiago are the only Premier League players with more goal involvements in all competitions this season than the pair, highlighting City’s strength in depth.
Semenyo currently has 16 goals and assists; meanwhile, Cherki has 15 goal involvements following his strike away at Newcastle.
