Many Arsenal fans are now discussing the future of Ben White at international level following the resignation of Gareth Southgate.
Gareth Southgate has today stepped down from the post of England manager, in the wake of his side’s defeat in the final of Euro 2024.
Southgate has spent eight years at the helm for the national team, and is the second-most successful manager in the country’s history. He has led the Three Lions to two finals, one semi-final, and one quarter-final across his four tournaments in charge.
Ultimately, though, he was unable to deliver the trophy that England have now craved for 58 years.
Three Arsenal stars, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, and Aaron Ramsdale, were included in the England squad that travelled to Germany.
Rice came under fire from England fans for his performance in the final, whilst Saka also struggled to produce his best. Ultimately, despite making it to the last game of the competition, the entire England squad were below par throughout almost the entirety of the tournament.
Perhaps things would have been different for England had Ben White been part of the squad for this tournament. The Arsenal right-back was in exceptional form last season and shares brilliant on-field chemistry with Saka.
However, White withdrew himself from consideration for England duty last season. It was speculated that a rift with Southgate and his coaching staff was the cause of this.

Arsenal fans want Ben White back in England team after Gareth Southgate departure
Following Southgate’s exit, many Arsenal fans on X are calling for White to reverse his decision and come back into the Arsenal fold.
One fan simply exclaimed: “BRING BACK BEN WHITE.”
Another said: “The ben white and saka duo is where like 90% of arsenal’s chances came from last season.”
One supporter claimed: “Today is Ben White day. The English Cafu. #SouthgateOut.”
Another stated: “Ben White also allows Saka to finally get some 1v1’s instead of being double teamed by every country they play, this will make Bukayo even more dangerous and effective then he already is for England.”
