Arsenal failed to secure a forward signing in the January transfer window, and Mikel Arteta’s team have subsequently paid the price.

While Arsenal thrashed PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League in midweek, this came after the Gunners dropped points in each of their last two Premier League games, failing to score in either game.

Evidently lacking the offensive firepower to break down low blocks in the English top flight, the Emirates hierarchy will be ruing their decision not to add to Arteta’s ranks when they had the opportunity to do so.

Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka are expected to return to action soon, but both Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz are out for the season, meaning Arsenal will have to make do without a recognised striker for the rest of the campaign.

Arsenal fans rave over Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s performance for PSG v Liverpool

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was available on the market for just €70 million (£58 million) in January, and Arsenal opted not to pursue the Georgian.

Instead, Paris Saint-Germain spent the money, acquiring the former Napoli man for this excellent fee.

The winger has already shown his value to the French giants, contributing to three goals in his first five Ligue 1 starts, and producing an exceptional performance against Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Arsenal fans took to social media to voice their frustrations over their club’s inability to land Kvaratskhelia in the winter window.

One fan posed on X: “Kvaratskhelia was available for €70m and Arsenal and most of Europe said no!?!? He’s been cooking Liverpool for 30 straight minutes.”

Another added: “I said it 2 months ago Arsenal should have got Kvaratskhelia. Put me on Arsenal transfers man, he’s such a baller.”

One supporter simply wrote: “Arsenal should have paid all that money for Kvaratskhelia man.”

Meanwhile, another claimed that Kvaratskhelia is the Lionel Messi of Leandro Trossards, writing: “Kvaratskhelia would’ve changed Arsenal’s life. He’s the Messi of Trossards.”

One fan vented his disappointment about not signing the 24-year-old by claiming: “The last time Arsenal had a player as exciting as Kvaratskhelia was Alexis Sanchez.”

Despite Liverpool ultimately winning at the Parc des Princes, PSG dominated the game for the majority of the 90 minutes and Kvaratskhelia was at the heart of everying the French side did going forward.

Graceful on the ball, looking to weave his way in and out of defenders, and constantly test Alisson Becker in the Liverpool goal, the wide forward was a relentless threat throughout.

The performance encapsulated what the data suggests he is – a high volume dribbler and creative player, who loves to take shots.

Amassing almost four shots per 90 minutes for Napoli in the first half of the season, Kvaratskhelia was actually experiencing a slight down year regarding his take-on numbers.

Typically completing over three dribbles per match, the chaos he can bring to a game would certainly have been useful for what has become a sterile Arsenal attack.
