Arsenal become a part of Champions League history
Scoring four against Atletico in the Champions League was a spotlight-stealing result for Arsenal, but they weren’t the only ones to impress.
The English clubs in the tournament flew the flag with intent, making history as 19 goals were scored in one matchday.
It was the first time ever that clubs from a single nation had scored as many as 19 goals on one Champions League matchday, but one club didn’t pull their weight.
While Chelsea and Liverpool scored five, Arsenal scored four, Newcastle United scored three, and Manchester City scored two, Tottenham failed to score.
Arsenal fans can’t stop laughing at Tottenham
Fans of all clubs pounced on the fact that Tottenham were still included in the list, with one fanbase laughing the loudest, that, of course, being Arsenal.
Arsenal and Spurs’ rivalry has brought the Gunners more joy over the years, with the Lilywhites sometimes seen as the gift that keeps on giving.
“Glad to see Spurs with a super Spursy contribution to a record-breaking stat,” one Arsenal fan laughed on X.
“Big fat 0,” another added, as Arsenal’s rivals were taunted on social media.
“Look at the club that found a way to fumble it.”
“Y’all guess the imposter.”
“We see you hiding spurs.”
Tottenham drew 0-0 against AS Monaco away from home, a game that Thomas Frank’s side were fortunate to get a point from.
Spurs conceded as many as 23 shots, but all the attention came from their inability to perform at the other end of the pitch.
“Only one English team did not score or win this week,” an Arsenal fan said.
Another called Spurs ‘useless’.
Others weren’t surprised to see Tottenham not contributing to the record while other clubs thrived.
“Spurs always bring down positive stats. What the hell is this?”
“As usual, it is Spurs who will spoil the trend by not contributing anything.”
It was a fantastic week for Arsenal, made even better for fans, who got another opportunity to laugh at Tottenham.
