Arsenal fans have a lot to say about Raheem Sterling after brutal Mikel Arteta decision vs Man United

Arsenal fans have been left frustrated with Raheem Sterling as the winger was overlooked in the clash with Manchester United.

The Gunners went one goal behind just before the half-time break as Bruno Fernandes placed a pinpoint accurate free-kick – though frustration arrived over an error with the free-kick wall by Anthony Taylor.

Arsenal managed to draw themselves level in the second half as Declan Rice struck the back of the net from just inside the box.

However, the Gunners never managed to get themselves over the line to find that winner and were forced to settle for a point.

Within the game, Mikel Arteta made some big decisions, one of which surrounded Raheem Sterling and a brutal call on him.

Arsenal fans react to Raheem Sterling snub vs Manchester United

As Arsenal were looking to turn things around, Arteta called upon some changes from the bench to try and impact things.

He called up Gabriel Martinelli, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Kieran Tierney but decided to snub Raheem Sterling, despite the moment calling for a change.

It was a damning moment for the loanee, with fans frustrated on social media with the lack of impact from the star.

On supporter said: “KT as a winger over Sterling is actually savage from Arteta but 100% correct.”

“Raheem Sterling transfer gotta go down as one of the worst in the clubs history, just isnt rated by Mikel,” another added.

Another fan added: “BTW Tierney came on as a winger before Sterling, tells you what disaster Edu produced.”

Frustration continued: “Sterling surely the worst signing for Arsenal in the last 5 years?” while another added: “The Sterling situation is embarrassing for the Arsenal hierarchy. An indictment of the club’s transfer business last summer.”

In the end, it has left many questioning the deal, which hasn’t worked so far, with time running out on his time at the club.

Raheem Sterling loan will go down as a transfer mistake

It was always going to be tough for Sterling to get his way into the team at the start of the season, given the strength up front.

However, with injuries impacting Arsenal in those areas, it has been a clear problem that the forward is hardly involved.

Ethan Nwaneri and Leandro Trossard have been depended on in the wide areas, while Mikel Merino has been used as an unnatural centre-forward.

With it being crunch time, Sterling has failed to produce in the big moments and with Kieran Tierney even substituted on before him, it shows the lack of trust from Arteta.

Unless Sterling can come up with a big goal in the Champions League this season, it will be a failure of a deal for the side.
