Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has agreed a new three-year contract at the club, ending all speculation over his future.

Arteta has been in charge since December 2019, and has fixed what was a broken Arsenal team at the time, helping build a title-challenging team.

Despite a difficult first two years, Arteta started to get Arsenal back on track during the 2021-22 season, and towards the end of the campaign, the Gunners were well in the hunt for a top-four spot.

The club were clearly pleased with Arteta’s work, and handed him a contract extension before the season finished.

Arsenal have again extended his deal, and this is a welcome boost ahead of tough games against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, with the news about Arteta potentially coming at the perfect time to galvanise the squad.

Arteta signed his last deal on 28th April 2022, with five games remaining in the campaign, and this initially gave a boost to the injury-stricken squad.

Arsenal’s first two games after Arteta extended his deal came away at West Ham and at home to Leeds United, and they recorded 2-1 wins in both games.

However, their top-four push fell apart as they lost away at Spurs and Newcastle, but fans could still see the progress the team made under Arteta, and the final day saw Arsenal thrash Everton 5-1, with a mood of optimism around the Emirates.
