Arsenal believe they have found the missing ingredient to finally landing the Premier League title this season.

Micah Richards believes Viktor Gyokeres will be ‘special’ this season as the Gunners landed the Swedish striker in a £63m deal to bolster their attack.

As injuries to Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka decimated their chances of silverware last season, fans have been desperate for the Gunners to recruit heavily up top.

After impressing with nearly 100 goals in his last two seasons at Sporting Lisbon, there is the expectation that Gyokeres will have the firepower that has been missing for Arsenal. However, fans might be about to be disappointed.

Viktor Gyokeres won’t start every game for Arsenal

Speaking on the latest episode of the ‘Second Captains’ podcast, journalist Miguel Delaney has revealed that Arsenal will not play Gyokeres every game next season.

Adrian Clarke believes Havertz has the edge over Gyokeres in terms of attacking crosses and Delaney believes the two players will be subject to a lot of rotation in the upcoming campaign.

Delaney stated: “I don’t think Gyokeres is going to start every single game. I think he’s going to be, from what I’m told, he’s going to be interchanged with Kai Havertz a lot.

“As I said before in the podcast, Arteta absolutely loves how Havertz in particular gets his press more than anyone else.

“That’s crucial for how we play, especially given how controlled Arsenal are. I think that’s one of the big differences between themselves and this new Liverpool.”

It has been discussed that Arsenal could even use both players in a 4-4-2 system in some games this season.

Havertz welcomed Gyokeres with open arms to the squad and the two players could be set to form a lethal partnership rather than being rivals.

Mikel Arteta will benefit in cup competitions from having two strikers

One major disappointment from Arsenal in recent seasons has been their failures in the domestic cups. The Gunners have a rich history in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, however, haven’t reached a final in either since 2020.

Having two strikers who can rotate in and out of the side will help Arteta go deeper in these competitions this season.

When looking at the Gunners’ squad, Arteta has two quality options for every position and this is vital heading into a season where all four trophies will be targeted.

The domestic cups will also be opportunities for the likes of Max Dowman to come in and impress, just like Ethan Nwaneri took his chance last campaign.
