Arsenal are preparing for a week of challenges on the road in the Premier League and the Champions League.

First, the Gunners will travel to Milan to battle Inter at the San Siro on match day four of the new European format.

Then, Mikel Arteta will march his side across London to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, in what is poised to be a blockbuster.

It’s been a while since Arsenal headed into a clash with the Blues behind the West Londoners in the table, with the fixture a must-win for Arteta’s squad.

Chelsea vs Arsenal: Cole Palmer injury news

After losing to Bournemouth and Newcastle United and drawing to Liverpool, Arsenal will be eager to return to winning ways in the derby.

There’s no better source of redemption than securing a victory over your rivals, as Arteta will know heading into the fixture.

The Arsenal boss would have paid attention to Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United on match day 10, where Enzo Maresca was dealt a possibly huge injury blow.

In the dying embers, Cole Palmer was hurt by Lisandro Martinez in a freak tackle, with the Blues manager admitting that his prized possession was nursing the blow in the changing room.

“Cole was in the changing room with ice so we are waiting now. Hopefully, it is nothing important,” Maresca said in his post-match press conference.

There’s optimism at Chelsea that Palmer simply suffered a knock during the challenge, particularly with the Arsenal clash in mind.

Arsenal have to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

With or without Palmer, the Gunners’ task is clear – leave the Bridge with three points in hand.

After losing to Newcastle, Arsenal dropped to fifth in the table, falling seven points off the top spot and placing behind both Chelsea and Nottingham Forest.

With a win percentage of just 50% in the Premier League this season, Arteta has to get his side ticking again before time runs out in the title race.

Beating Chelsea is a must, and what better way to turn doubters into believers than an away derby win.
