Ian Wright was quick to mock Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer on social media as Arsenal cruised to a 4-1 over the Magpies.
Arsenal were in fantastic form as they thrashed Newcastle United in a Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night.
Such was the level of the Gunners’ dominance that they managed to restrict Newcastle to an extent in the first half that they haven’t suffered in the Premier League for ten years. Mikel Arteta will have been delighted by the control that his side were able to exert on the match. Arsenal fans were particularly impressed by Jorginho, as the veteran midfielder was able to dictate the pace of the game and consistently cut through the visitors’ lines with his progressive passing.
As good as the Gunners were though, Newcastle were equally abject. Particularly in the first half, when Eddie Howe’s side could scarcely string any passes together and failed to ever threaten David Raya’s goal.

Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer was far from impressed by what he saw for the Magpies in north London. Arsenal legend Ian Wright was quick to stick the boot in. As Shearer criticised Newcastle’s performance on X, Wright responded with a mocking video clip of himself enjoying a takeaway whilst watching the match.
Arsenal fans will certainly have appreciated seeing the north London club’s former all-time leading goalscorer savouring the quality of the performance being put in by Arteta’s side.
This performance from the Gunners was no one-off either, but rather a continuation of their scintillating recent Premier League form. Arsenal have now scored 25 goals over the course of their last six league outings, and have conceded just three times over that same period. They now boast the best goal difference in the division and look like they mean business in this title race.
