Perry Groves has revealed how many goals he thinks under-fire Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres will score in the Premier League this season.
Gyokeres enjoyed an outstanding 2024/25 campaign at Sporting, netting 54 goals in 52 games across all competitions.
This prolific form unsurprisingly prompted interest in him from several clubs across Europe, including the Gunners, Manchester United and Juventus.
Arsenal won the race to sign Gyokeres, although things haven’t quite gone according to plan in the early part of his career in North London.

Perry Groves provides Viktor Gyokeres goal output verdict
Gyokeres has scored just three goals in his first ten appearances in an Arsenal shirt.
Given how productive he was in front of goal for Sporting, many fans and pundits expected the Swede to have produced a slightly more impressive tally at this point.
Nonetheless, Gyokeres excelled against Newcastle at St. James’ Park last week and has shown tangible signs of improvement in his all-around game of late.
These encouraging indicators have prompted Arsenal legend Groves to stick by his initial goal tally prediction for the 27-year-old.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the pundit revealed that he believes Gyokeres will still score 20 goals in the league this term.
“Well, I’ve got a cheeky little side bet on with Charlie George, a proper Arsenal legend who I see at the games,” Groves said.
“I said Gyokeres would get 20 Premier League goals. If you’re playing up front for Arsenal, with the chances that we create, any decent centre-forward would.
“They’ve got to get used him being in the box, and he’s got to be a bit more vocal because if you were in the box and the wingers weren’t getting it you, you’d have a little word, wouldn’t you? So maybe he’s got to get a bit more understanding that way.
“But let’s be honest, right? If he scores 25 Premier League goals and we don’t win the title, he’s still going to get criticism.
“If he scores 15 Premier League goals and we win the title, nobody cares. Not one Arsenal fan would bat an eyelid. So I’m still convinced he’s going to get maybe 20 Premier League goals.”
Is Groves’ prediction a realistic outcome for Gyokeres this season?
Gyokeres is currently averaging just over two shots per 90 minutes and 0.34 non-penalty expected goals per match.
Unless he enjoys ridiculous over-performance, these numbers simply won’t lead to him netting 20 Premier League goals this season.
To achieve this feat, he needs to find the back of the net 17 times in the remaining 37 games, a rate of just under one goal every other match.
| Viktor Gyokeres’ Premier League Statistics 2025/26 | |
| Appearances | 7 |
| Goals | 3 |
| Assists | 0 |
| Shots per 90 | 2.19 |
| Non-Penalty Expected Goals per 90 | 0.34 |

| Expected Assists per 90 | 0.08 |
Kai Havertz will return from injury in November, and the German is expected to rotate in and out of the side frequently with the Sweden international.
This will reduce his time on the pitch and make it even less likely that he reaches this figure. That said, it’s not unreasonable to suggest that Gyokeres will make huge strides in his performance levels and is able to score at a respectable rate.
