Arsenal loanee confirms return to Colney in social media post after major injury setback

Mikel Arteta will have several crucial decisions to make in the summer with regard to Arsenal’s loan players.

In the cases of Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga, it appears that their Arsenal futures have been decided. 

Lokonga is on loan at Sevilla, a deal that included an option to buy clause, while Nuno Tavares is at Lazio on an obligation to buy loan. 

Arteta will need to assess the likes of Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson, who are set to return to Arsenal at the expiration of their stays at Porto and Fulham.

Reiss Nelson returns to Colney after injury

For one player, a return to Arsenal has already happened, as Nelson confirmed his arrival back at Colney.

On Instagram, the 25-year-old posted a photo of the gym at Arsenal’s training centre, informing fans of his return to his parent club to commence his rehabilitation. 

Nelson was impressing at Fulham before injury struck, seeing the winger’s season end prematurely. 

It’s a huge blow for the Hale End graduate, who was desperate to impress at Premier League level as his Arsenal future remains uncertain.

Amid Arsenal’s own injury challenges back in N5, Nelson underwent surgery on his hamstring, all but ending his loan spell at Fulham. 

Nightmare loan outcome for Nelson

Nelson signed a long-term contract at Arsenal in the summer of 2023; however, that far from confirms his future at his boyhood club. 

Joining Fulham gave the winger the chance to secure consistent game time in the Premier League, a spell that has instead ended in devastating circumstances.

The Hale End product is now back at Arsenal to recover, with a possibly decisive pre-season ahead.

Arteta will want to be patient with Nelson after his injury setback, in what has been a trialling few years for him at Arsenal.
