Arsenal have had no luck on the injury front this season, with the Gunners now suffering yet another blow.

Mikel Arteta has had his adaptability truly tested this campaign, which the manager deserves credit for as Arsenal sit comfortably second in the Premier League table

While the Spaniard deserves credit, there’s no doubt that Arteta has been let down by Arsenal’s hierarchy, with the Gunners’ squad depth far from adequate.

Following the mid-season training camp in Dubai, Arteta’s squad returned shellshocked rather than rejuvenated, as Kai Havertz picked up a season-ending injury

The striker will now be out until the summer but, he’s not the only Gunner to recently undergo surgery.

Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson confirms surgery after injury setback

Havertz confirmed that he underwent surgery in an emotional update on social media, ending his season in unfortunate circumstances.

The Arsenal squad reacted to Havertz’s message following the forward’s successful surgery but, there’s been yet another blow for the Gunners.

Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson has been out of action for Fulham since December and in a surprise social media post, the Englishman confirmed he underwent surgery.

In a poignant message, Nelson said the following on Instagram.

“Life and football are all about setbacks and comebacks. This one hurts, but it’s just part of the journey. Surgery went well, I’m focused and determined to return stronger than ever.”

It’s a significant blow for Nelson, who might struggle to return to Arsenal alongside a list of other loanees with uncertain futures.

For now, the winger will be hopeful of returning to the pitch before the end of the season after a devastating blow to his chances of redemption at Fulham.

Arsenal squad react to Reiss Nelson injury update

Even before his injury, Nelson’s future at Arsenal was in doubt, as it’s understood that Arteta does not see the Hale End graduate in his plans.

It makes his setback all the more excruciating, as the 25-year-old was just starting to show his spark under Marco Silva.

Silva is an admirer of what Nelson can offer to Fulham, with his chances of playing again this season for the Cottagers incredibly slim.

In reaction to his social media post, warm wishes flooded in from his teammates past and present, with several Arsenal stars reacting.

Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, William Saliba, Jurrien Timber and Gabriel Magalhaes were among the comments, with some former Gunners also sending messages.

Thoughts are with Nelson at this time in what is a terrible outcome to his season that had so much promise at Fulham.
