Arsenal’s search for a new sporting director remains ongoing.

The Gunners have had a solid structure behind the scenes for many years, but that took a hit when Edu Gaspar resigned from his role at Arsenal earlier in November.

Since then, the North Londoners have been on the lookout for the Brazilian’s successor, and they have been linked with several names.

Tomas Rosicky is one of them and Arsenal are in talks with him, but the Gunners have made a U-turn on another sporting director they were interested in.

Arsenal change their mind about appointing Thiago Scuro as their sporting director

Thiago Scuro was linked with the Arsenal sporting director role after Edu’s exit in the first week of November.

The 43-year-old is currently the director of French side Monaco. He has been at the helm at the Stade Louis II since July 2023.

Previously a part of the Red Bull group, Scuro has made a fantastic name for himself in Europe, and although nobody really expected Arsenal to be interested in him, it’s not too big of a surprise when you look at the work he has done in France.

However, L’Equipe have now revealed that Arsenal have changed their mind.

The report claims that Scuro is no longer a candidate for the sporting director role at Arsenal. It has been hinted that the 43-year-old’s lack of experience in England is the reason behind that decision.

Scuro, for his part, is said to be happy at Monaco – he has only been there for a little over a year and their project is an exciting one too.

Which sporting director should Arsenal appoint to replace Edu?

Edu did a fantastic job during his time at Arsenal.

The Brazilian was the one who appointed Mikel Arteta, and he closed deals to bring in superstars like Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice to the Emirates.

Edu will be a big miss for the North Londoners, but the Gunners have to bring in someone better to replace him. There have been several links, but we think the best candidate for Arsenal is Luis Campos.

Reports have claimed that Arteta is personally pushing for Campos to be appointed as Edu’s successor, and we think he would be perfect.

However, the veteran is contracted to PSG until the end of the season. It remains to be seen if the French champions will allow him to leave before the end of his deal.
